What we collect and why

What we ask for
Your name and email when you sign up. Then, on your profile: your university, study level, study period, arrival and end dates, the languages you speak and want to practise, your interests, your age, and optionally your gender and whether you would prefer a buddy of a particular gender.
Why we need it
To pair you with a buddy. A coordinator reads these details to find someone you are likely to get on with, and uses your email to tell you when that has happened. Nothing here is used for advertising.
Who can see it
The ESN Luzern coordinators who run the programme. Your buddy sees your profile details once you have been matched, but your email address is revealed only after you have both confirmed the match. Other students cannot see you at all.
Where it is stored
On servers in Zurich, Switzerland. Emails are sent through Resend, in Ireland. We do not sell your details and we do not pass them to anyone outside ESN Luzern.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it, or until the programme ends and the records are no longer needed.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold, correct it, or have it deleted. Write to contact@luzern.esn.ch and we will act on it. You can also edit most of it yourself from your profile page at any time.
